West from the Blacktail Plateau

At the very end of a mid-winter day dominated by low clouds, a sliver of clear weather cracked the western horizon and allowed the final moments of sun to light up the sky with colors as vibrant as any I've ever seen. Standing in Yellowstone National Park's Blacktail Plateau, home to winter wolves and bison, I used a 500mm telephoto to shoot a large panorama. With snow blowing from distant mountaintops and a line of dead trees standing against creamy clouds all under fiery skies, this photo combines the feel of winter with a sense of hope and all the wonder of a magical, natural world.

This is tack sharp up to its largest size of 8 feet long, and is available on both archival quality paper and ready-to-hang aluminum. Each piece is signed and numbered.
