High in the Absaroka Beartooth Mountains, a strip of colorful aspen trees cuts across a landscape of granite boulders. A distant mountain sports one of the year's first dustings of snow, while the sky says more may fall this day.
This is a large, 48x72 inch photograph shot with Fuji's remarkable GFX 100 medium format camera as a four-panel panorama and then cropped to a standard 3:2 size. It has unmatched detail, color, and contrast and allows the viewer to see what I did without having to scale more than a thousand vertical feet of rockslide. It is the epitome of fall in the high, rugged mountains of Montana.
