As California began burning this year, with smoke drifting all the way to Montana and beyond, I was able to capture a bison in Yellowstone Park's Geyser Basin right at sunrise. With steam from the geysers in the foreground, and bands of smoke drifting across the sun, this is a dramatic image of one of the West's iconic animals.
