My first astro work of 2023 from a beautiful, cold night on the Big Horn Canyon National Recreation Area. Here, the Big Horn River has carved its way hundreds of feet into sandstone, creating scenes more typical of Utah or Arizona. It’s an area steeped in Native American history where wild horses roam and big horn sheep can be found napping on cliffs.
This time of year, the core of the Milky Way rises above the horizon shortly before dawn and there’s a lot going on in a sliver of time. Between timing this shot to finish before both the partial moon and sun rose, doing my best to not plummet off the 800-foot cliff I was set up on the very edge of, I was busy!
Each of these piece of art is signed and numbered and ships free to all lower 48 states.
