A SW Montana meadow overflows with wildflowers while beams from the rising sun kiss the land. This solstice photo, taken on the day with the most light in 2020, shows a world rushing into summer, flowers exploding on a landscape dominated by snow less than two months ago.
While shooting this, I listened to cow and calf elk talking, a western meadowlark singing, and watched a female calliope hummingbird try to choose where she would drink next. This is a beautiful time in Montana with the seasons' life cycle in the prime of its life.
