Cold Winter Moon - Limited Edition

The full moon sets behind Big Sky Montana's Lone Peak during mid-winter. For this shot, taken when it was 12 below zero, I hiked a couple of miles into the Porcupine Creek drainage, setting up on a wind-blown ridge pocked with elk tracks, waiting for the moon to fall into position above the shoulder of this popular ski mountain at first light. I used a 500mm telephoto to capture this scene in a single image, the pink glow of sunrise visible on the slopes of Lone Peak, the moon slipping toward the western horizon as the sun rose over the Gallatin Range behind me.

This is a signed and numbered, archival-quality, limited-edition print done at 20x30, with a run guaranteed not to exceed 100 images.
