A lone bull bison walks the Soda Butte Creek Valley in Yellowstone National Park during the dead of winter. Even on a year like 2026 without the usual waist-deep snow, this land has the feel of harsh weather and tough living.
I shot this black and white photo in high resolution medium format and then cropped the image to the standard 2:3 aspect ratio. This is meant to be displayed large and has the dramatic feel of rugged, western landscape and iconic wildlife.
