After an overnight snow storm, I spent a morning at a local, Montana wetland. I was thinking I'd have a chance to shoot displaying redwing black birds, but the calls of a sandhill crane drew me into frozen cattails. After half an hour of careful stalking, I found a lane through the snowy reeds that I could shoot through and stayed until I was too cold to continue running my camera. This is one of my favorite bird captures, and it's available as a standard print as well as on ready-to-hang aluminum.
