Windblown at Sunset

Standing in Yellowstone National Park's Blacktail Plateau, I watched a winter day end with one of the most colorful sunsets I've ever seen. It had been a day of low clouds that only began to break during the final moments of sunlight, setting the sky on fire with shades of purple, red, and salmon.

I pointed my 500mm Nikon telephoto west toward Bannack and Antler Peak, and recorded a moment of wind-driven snow peeling from their summits in the moments before night gained control of the land.

This is an incredibly colorful photo whose color transitions are seamlessly smooth with detail that is hard to believe shows the land more than 20 miles from where I was standing. It's available on archival quality photo paper as well as ready-to-hang aluminum and each piece is signed and numbered.
