The spring Milky Way and northern lights shine over the Spanish Peaks Range near Bozeman, Montana.

This was a three-mile hike which, even with a heavy pack and during the middle of the night, should have been relatively easy. Doing it without my snowshoes was a big mistake, however, and I've rarely been as tired as I was when this shoot was complete. For more than half the way, I trudged through snow between knee and thigh deep.

The wind-battered, dead fir in the foreground is leaning a little more than when I first discovered it in 2019, but it continues to stand more or less upright in the face of some of Montana's harshest weather.

This print is offered in a variety of sizes and can be custom ordered as a framed work of art or on ready-to-hang aluminum by special request. Each comes signed and numbered as part of editions not to exceed 50 pieces.
