The winter full moon sets in the mornings behind Lone Peak in Big Sky, Montana. For this shot, I hiked a couple of miles up Porcupine Creek on the east side of the Gallatin River, shooting a panorama with one of Nikon's fine telephoto lenses. It was cold, but dead calm, and as clouds took on the color of the coming day I felt a sense of hopefulness - as though winter is long but not infinite.
This panorama measures 36x72 inches (six feet long) and is printed on fine aluminum for decades of impeccable color and detail. It is signed and numbered and limited to an edition size of just 5 prints.
