In total silhouette, a spike bull elk steps over a ridge in SW Montana at sunset. It's not unusual to see these year-and-a-half-old bull elk grow a single antler, and more than likely this elk will have a pair of "normal" ones next year.
I have always liked silhouette shots, especially when they show something as recognizable to me as one of my favorite Montana animals.
