Moments before the most violent thunderstorm I've ever been caught out in hit, I captured this image of wildflowers in Montana's Spanish Peaks Mountain Range. The eerie cloud formations above Bear Basin, near Big Sky, gave way to nonstop lightning, torrential rain, and then large hail that left this scene buried under six inches of ice pellets. The beauty of nature is rivaled only by its power.
