Light On The Darkest Day

Early afternoon on the winter solstice found me hiking Cascade Creek in the Spanish Peaks of SW Montana. For a moment, as the sun cracked high clouds, rays illuminating a small spruce at the head of a steep run of rushing water, I could almost sense the world's relief at the prospect of longer days.

This photo has an amazing amount of detail, capturing the feel of winter in Montana's woods as well as any that I've taken. With ice tinted blue from minerals in the water, a great play of light and dark, and a hopeful sense, it displays beautifully. I'm offering it in several sizes as a photographic print as well as a piece of ready-to-hang art on aluminum.

Each piece comes signed by the artist.
