The summer Milky Way arcs over Beehive Basin near Big Sky, Montana. For this shoot, I used two cameras set up about three feet apart. Because of the rotation of our Earth, it was necessary to focus one camera on the Milky Way's reflection, and another on the sky in order to create the panorama that you see here where everything is in the correct position.

This image combines 59 separate photos, all shot at 35mm, to give a true-to-life, horizon-to-horizon view of one of the prettier places in SW Montana.

This is available as a custom piece and looks best on archival metallic paper. Those local to the Big Sky area can view a large, framed version in the new Big Sky Community Center when it opens in early 2022.
