Angry Clouds Over Black Canyon Lake

Fall bends to winter in the high Absaroka Beartooth Wilderness of Montana. Here, at Black Canyon Lake, in the very heart of one of the largest roadless pieces of country in the lower 48, I spent several hours waiting to see if the mountain snow squalls would blow over. It was a beautiful, quiet time on the near edge of winter, the first day that felt as though seasons had truly shifted.

This image shows 100 seconds of time and, apart from the aqua colors this lake is so famous for, shows very little other color. It's available in a variety of sizes as an archival-quality print and also on ready-to-hang aluminum, and each one signed and numbered.
