The sun sets on a gorgeous, early-summer day high in Montana's Spanish Peaks Range. With Lone Peak visible on the left, and the Spanish Peaks' highest summit, Gallatin Peak, dominating the right side of this photo, this is a vibrant panorama that captures some of the beauty of this remote location.
I shot this photo from the divide between the headwaters of Hellroaring Creek and the Summit Lake drainage. As the sun fell out of sight, mountain goats fed behind me, and a stiff breeze said that summer doesn't last long at this elevation.
